How Lady Gaga's Pink Engagement Ring Compares To Kate Middleton's

Lady Gaga has reached a brand-new career peak. Not only is the pop superstar riding high, courtesy of her highly praised A Star Is Born, but confirmation of her engagement to Christian Carino has her name spread across headlines. Even though we already know some of the details about the ring, Harper's Bazaar has noted one important detail: It looks like the pink version of Kate Middleton's ring, which previously belonged to Princess Diana.

According to Andrew Brown, President of WP Diamonds, Carino wasn't playing around when he proposed to the pop titan, revealing that the ring is a 6-7 carat pink sapphire with a diamond halo totaling 3-4 carats. "This is likely a high quality, no heat (treatment), pink sapphire. It looks like it may be a Padparadscha sapphire, in which case this ring would easily retail between $300,000 and $400,000," the expert told E! News. Meanwhile, the comparisons between Gaga's ring and Middleton's 12-carat oval blue Ceylon sapphire surrounded by 14 solitaire diamonds, set in 18-karat white gold, are rather undeniable.

Shane Co.'s VP of Merchandise Alicia Davis told Extra that the similarities are more due to the fact that this trend is catching on quick. "The simple shank with a halo is a huge trend that we have seen for the past few years, and now brides are being even more creative using the halo with different sizes of stones and details," she said.
