Well, I guess phone communication is a thing of the past. On Thursday (September 20), just hours after Kanye West went on a random Instagram rant attacking Nick Cannon, Drake, and Tyson Beckford (all of whom either shaded Kanye's wife Kim Kardashian or in Ye's words upset his spirt), Nick became the first of the three men to respond to Ye's rant.
โWelcome back, Ye, from the sunken place. Itโs a beautiful thing, Iโm glad youโre back with us brother,โ Nick began his two-video Instagram response. โNothing but love and respect for you brother, you know Iโve always had that. But I honestly got to say this, my dude. Iโve never said anything disrespectful or harmful to ya, in my opinion, to your marriage or your union. I salute it, keep it going.โ
โBut you are not gonna tell me what I can and what I canโt say, Iโm a solid individual," Nick continued, referencing Kanye's rant where he told him not to mention his wife. "Someone asks me a question, Iโm gonna answer it to the best of my ability. Iโm gonna give my opinion," he added. "There ainโt no harm, no foul. But I know it got your spirit feeling weird. Holla at me. You know where Iโm at, you know what Iโm saying. A manโs spirit is free but pride binds it at times, so you gotta let that lose, let it lose.โ
As previously reported, Kanye's initial rant steemed from an Everyday Struggle interview where Nick said he didnโt think it was a โfar off of a conceptโ that Drake and Kim hooked up. โFirst of all, I want to address Nick Cannon. I understand that you used to date my wife, but you know, you get into an interview, donโt mention my wife,โ Kanye said in his first of four Instagram videos on Thursday. โIf someone brings my wife up, say, โI respect that man, Iโm not speaking on that.โ Donโt be making no suggestions โ like nobody f**ked my wife,โ Kanye said before directing his next statements to Drake.
Clearly, unbothered by Ye's words, the Wild 'N Out host continued his response, by saying, "letโs talk about it. Come on the [Wild 'N Out]. Let's show itโs all love โฆ we can have a good time with this. It can be Mariah [Carey] jokes, Kim jokes, all that,โ Nick, who was married to Mariah for eight years, said in the video. โIn all seriousness, Iโve got nothing for love for you, but Iโmma always speak my mind, just like you always speak yours. Not you, not NBC, not no corporate infrastructures, no one is ever gonna control what I say because I speak truth, always. Itโs love.โ
