Ends 2/13 – Abate of ND welcomes everyone out to the “Tips and Balls” pool & dart Tournament and Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, Feb. 13th at PowerHouse Bar & Grill in Mandan. Entries taken from 11a to noon with tasting from noon to 3pm.  Come hungry…$5 gets you a sample of each entry! Abate membership no required to compete!

Ends 2/18 - The public is invited to join the fight of North Dakota and America’s number one disability –Arthritis. Join the ND Arthritis Foundation and community members at the Arthritis Walk Kick-off on Thursday, February 18 at the Bismarck, La Quinta Inn and Suites from 6-8 p.m.  Enjoy Food, Door Prizes, Team info, and Fun! Kids are welcome! Make a list in your mind of the people who suffer and join the fight by walking for them! Ends 2/29 – The Ohlsen family has helped to coordinate six elementary school blood drives in the month of February in support of their 8 year old son, Dash, who has leukemia and relies on volunteer blood donations as part of his treatments. To make an appointment donate blood at one of these Team Dash blood drives or to find another convenient blood drive, donors may go to, UnitedBloodServices.org, or call 701-557-4081. Donors must be 16 years or older (16 year olds need a minor donor permit which is available online), feel well and healthy, and have a photo I.D.

Ends 3/6 – Mandan Moose Club invites you out for their Pancake & Sausage Breakfast on Sunday, March 6th from 8:30am to 12:30pm at the Moose located at 111 11th Ave NE in Mandan.  Funds raised will go for improvements at the ND State Railroad Museum in Mandan!

Ends 3/6 - St. Paul Lutheran Church of Garrison’s annual spring supper: March 6th from 4-7 p.m., in the church. Roast pork and turkey will be served.  Takeout meals will also be available.  The cost is $12 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-12 and free for children ages 5 and younger.  A raffle will also be held.

Ends 2016 - For the second year, in an effort to beautify our community and provide home-grown produce for more Bismarck residents, NDSU Extension Service-Burleigh County and Bismarck Burleigh Public Health are teaming up to offer free, portable garden boxes to low-income residents of Bismarck. Each box is approximately 24” by 18”, making them small enough to fit on a patio or balcony and light enough to be moved as needed. These will be distributed in the spring of 2016. Planting materials, including soil and seeds, will also be provided.  If you would like to participate in this program, please call Peggy Netzer, NDSU Extension Agent with the Family Nutrition Program at 701-221-6865 to see if you qualify.

 Ends xx/xx- United Way Backpack Program sponsors are needed for 2015.  You or your business can provide weekend meals to nearly 500 children in the Bismarck-Mandan community for only two thousand dollars.  A gift of just five dollars ensures that a child has healthy meals when school is out of session.  Visit MSAUnitedWay.org and click "give" to ensure students succeed in school.

 Ends xx/xx- Did you know that there are medical grants available for families struggling with child health-related expenses?  The United Healthcare Children’s Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2013 grant program.  Grants, up to $5,000, are available to help families who need financial assistance.  Go online to apply at www.uhccf.org.
